69th Student Conference On National Affairs (SCONA)

Date Range:
February 15, 2024 to February 17, 2024
Event Type:
Sponsored
Location:
MSC
Description:
The SCONA Conference is a 3 day event where delegates from all majors participate in a roundtable of 10-12 delegates and a subject matter expert in order to draft a policy memo on a specific topic of national affairs. Throughout the conference, we host a speaker slate of relevant national figures to provide insight to our delegates, culminating in policy memos and presentations. The topic this year is: American Grand Strategy: Winning the Decisive Decade. Inspired by President Biden's National Security Strategy, there will be four concentrations of roundtables, each exploring 4-5 related policy topics of top relevance in the coming 10 years. During the conference, undergraduate and graduate delegates from all over the nation will explore the United States' grand strategy through roundtables, working to collaborate and produce policy papers within the context of the "Decisive Decade." Delegates will work to answer the question: how will our nation not only hang on but truly succeed in an influential time of national affairs?
