The event's purpose is to host a competition from colleges nationwide for national qualifiers in the hunt seat equestrian discipline. The Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) is a national organization dedicated to giving opportunities to colleges and students to compete in the english equestrian discipline and furthering horsemanship and sportsmanship among the organization.
