Description:
SCOLA is a two(2) day conference event from Friday, March 28-29, which features keynote speakers, workshops sessions and round table discussions with facilitators, a resource fair, and an entertainment night ending with a gala. The keynote speakers and workshop presenters are chosen in relation to our conference theme and they come from the world of media, academics, politics, and the entertainment industry. Workshop presenters tend to be faculty, staff, graduate and undergraduate students from within and outside of Texas A&M. Our facilitators are past SCOLA executive members and current CAMAC members, graduate students, faculty, and staff from Texas A&M University and other universities. Throughout the conference, delegates participate in roundtables debriefing through discussions and activities, lead by facilitators. Attendees discuss understanding and learning outcomes from the workshops and from the keynote speakers. The Resource Fair places emphasis on Graduate School Programs and is available to all conference delegates. Our entertainment night has historically consisted of presentations on poetry, comedy, or movie showing. The SCOLA closing ceremony consists of a Gala in which we recognize the efforts of everyone who has made our conference a success. We present some internal staff recognition as we name our committee's Director and Coordinator of the Year. The Gala is also a moment to address the Committee Executive members and to introduce the Chair for the next academic year. Finally, there is a dance portion to celebrate the end of our conference and to give everyone the opportunity to have fun with all new friends made within the past 2 days.
