- Date Range:
- April 14, 2023 to April 16, 2023
- Event Type:
- Sponsored
- Location:
- Fort Worth, TX
- Description:
- Texas A&M's SAE Aero Design team is entirely student-led and self-funded. Each year, our team is tasked with designing a large-scale remote controlled aircraft that must complete specified mission requirements in order to compete in the SAE International Aero Design Competition. We compete under two classifications: Regular Class and Micro Class. Our Regular Class team has won 1st place at the competition three years in a row, from 2020 to 2022. Additionally, the Micro Class was able to walk away with a 4th overall finish, competing for the first time in many years. This year will be the first year that both classifications are full-sized and have their own leadership, making it the largest team we have ever had. This year, we are hoping for more wins at competition.
The SAE Aero Design Team is structured and run in the same way as professional engineering environments. The SAE Aero Design Team serves as an incubator for future Aggie engineering professionals. Each member has the opportunity to play an impactful role in the design process and apply engineering concepts learned in the classroom. We believe that the experience and knowledge that our members gain from their time on the team is unparalleled in value. In fact, all of our graduates have gone on to work at reputable companies including SpaceX, Lockheed Martin, Boeing, Northrop Grumman, and many others.
