Purpose:
Mission: The Cardiothoracic Surgery Interest Group (CTSIG) is founded by, driven by, and devoted to students interested in a career in CT surgery. CTSIG strives to improve the medical student experience at Texas A&M School of Medicine through educational, professional, and interpersonal activities and opportunities. To achieve our purpose and goals, CTSIG strongly upholds values as stated in the Aggie Code of Honor and expects members to demonstrate academic and personal excellence. Together, the CTSIG at Texas A&M School of Medicine hopes to represent the gold-standard of medical student organizations that will cultivate the next generation of cardiothoracic surgeons.

Purpose: The purpose of the CTSIG shall be to provide Texas A&M medical students, regardless of their class-year, an opportunity to actively get involved and participate in opportunities pertaining to the field of cardiothoracic (CT) surgery. Furthermore, the CTSIG shall increase early exposure to the field of CT surgery and create a peer-mentored environment dedicated to collaboration and growth for each and every member of the organization. The CTSIG shall also aim to connect students with attendings and professionals in the field of cardiothoracic surgery. This organization shall comply with all campus policies and regulations, and strongly uphold the Aggie Code of Honor. These policies and procedures shall conform to Texas A&M University’s rules as well as the student policies and regulations as published in the Texas A&M School of Medicine Handbook.
