- Purpose:
- The emphasis of Texas A&M University at Galveston Honors Program is to promote undergraduate scholarship by providing academically talented students with the opportunities to participate in specially designed courses that prepare them to conduct independent research and /or scholarly activity under the oversight of a faculty mentor. The honors program, characterized by small class sizes, interdisciplinary topics, and professors dedicated to teaching, creates an atmosphere encouraging open discussion of ideas and active learning. Completion of an acceptable honors project, with focus in marine and maritime disciplines, is the capstone experience of all honors graduates. ~ David Lawhon
