- Description:
- The Society of Women Engineers WE Local Conference is a regional career and professional development conference designed to provide engineering students with targeted, high-impact opportunities for growth, networking, and career readiness. WE Local serves as an accessible and concentrated version of the Society, allowing students to gain meaningful experience while representing Texas A&M at a regional level.
WE Local conference hosts hundreds to thousands of attendees and offers a full two days of workshops, panels, and networking sessions tailored to engineering students and early-career professionals. Programs focus on technical skill development, leadership, career exploration, workplace success, and inclusive professional practices. Students participate in resume reviews, mock interviews, and mentoring sessions with engineers from industry, academia, and government, and it includes a career fair with companies actively recruiting for interns and full-time engineers.
Attendance at WE Local provides direct and measurable benefits to students' academic and professional lives. Students return with improved confidence, stronger communication skills, and actionable guidance that they can apply in classrooms, student organizations, and research or design teams. Texas A&M students can use this conference to strengthen our section while also sharing best practices across campus and building up for the global conference in November.
Supporting student attendance at WE Local Conference demonstrates commitment to students' professional development and the continued success of Aggie engineers in both the regional and global engineering community.
