Description:

This event will take pre-service teachers (or any other interested discipline) through an evening of workshops where they will address inequity, discuss our responsibility in each other's lives, and examine how this empathy can facilitate more effective communication between people who are not from similar backgrounds. The results are fewer judgments on the quality and substance of each other's lives.

The aim of the event is to bring awareness of disparities in the communities where urban students live.
The aim of the event is to create a space where conversations about effective culturally responsive teaching can begin.
The aim of the event is to prepare pre-service teachers to understand their cultural selves and how that impacts the classroom.
