Aggie Bridge Club

About This Organization

Abbreviation(s):
ABC
Purpose:
The overall mission and purpose of the organization is to create a respectable group membership intent on playing a challenging and rewarding game that encourages the eventual development of long term calculated and understandable communication. The mission of the Contract Bridge Club would be to foster and spread the many variations of bridge to the Aggie community (experienced or inexperienced) in a respectable social manner that challenges the individuals team skills, calculations & strategies, and understanding of bridge. All students are welcome to join. No athletic ability and no prior knowledge of the game are needed. The club encourages fun and challenging recreation for all. Bridge remains the most played card game outside of poker, yet the age group falls predominately on older individuals of the population. It is relatively unknown to the typical college student. Our club would in fact spread bridge to an inexperienced community. Indeed, most interested members have little or no understanding of any bridge variation. The bridge club would aim for at least one bridge tournament or duplicate game that would involve the recommended number of players. The purpose of the bridge club is to teach this social game to the interested students or faculty so they may in turn spread this game of strategy amongst their friends, family, and business associates. The bridge club intends to be professional, as many other respectable "status" games (such as golf or tennis) demand. Under no circumstances would the bridge club organize anything other than a competitive game playing atmosphere. There will be no social events outside of card playing planned in this club. The bridge club aims to offer the interested individual a place for a face to face interaction involving the strategy of bridge.
